BOU Blog Homemade French Onion Soup

- Melt one stick of butter in Dutch oven over medium heat 
-Add 5 cups of sliced Spanish onions, 4 sliced garlic cloves, 2 sliced shallot cloves, 15 sprigs of fresh thyme, 3 bay leaves, and fresh cracked salt and pepper (around 1/8 tsp)
- Saute on medium heat to caramelize onions, 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Add 1 cup of dry white wine, 2TB of sherry and cook down for 5 minutes
- Add 3TB of AP flour and stir periodically for 5 minutes to thicken
- Meanwhile, boil 6 cups of water and add 3 BOU Beef Bouillon Cubes and mix
- Add broth mix to dutch oven and simmer for 20 minutes
- Dish out to bowls while hot for serving 
- Slice baguette, sprinkle sliced gruyere over the tops and bake in the oven on 350 until cheese has melted, transfer to the top of each bowl. Enjoy!
